Many people, when they are learning a new language, are afraid to speak for various reasons: they are embarrassed, feel uncomfortable, have had a bad experience using the language in the past, or simply don't have a chance to speak very often.

'English Summer with London Bridge' can help you to become more confident and sound natural when using English during conferences, meeting foreign people or even talking to the hotel staff on holiday.

If you want to practise and improve your English skills with a Native English speaker, and also have the opportunity to meet other foreigners, then these courses are designed for you.

The course is dedicated to people who want to:

- Eliminate language barriers.
- Learn English through fun and interaction.
- Improve speaking skills and build confidence.
- Communicate more easily in everyday situations, business, etc.
- Learn more about British culture.
- Meet and network with positive and enthusiastic people.
- Learn things which don't appear on classic language courses.
- Spend the summer effectively.

Below you will find details about each course, and how you can benefit from each of them.

'Business' Fridays

23rd July 2010 'The key to successful communication'

On this course you will learn:
- How to communicate effectively in English during international conferences, business meetings etc.
- What and what not to say when using 'small talk'.
- How to do business outside Poland (What are the rules when giving presents. When do you use Mr./Mrs. etc.)
- How to build relationships.

To help with communication, Role plays (arranged situations and dialogues) will be used, and foreign guests will be invited to make learning and an international environment more real.

30th July 2010 'Present yourself!'

On this course you will learn:
- Why good public speaking is so important.
- How to give a successful presentation in English.
- Which language to use when giving a presentation (Introducing yourself etc.)
- How to use English in a professional way.

Course members will practise presentations and public speaking, and then receive feedback. Bad and funny examples of presentations will also be presented on the course.

6th August 2010 'Brainstorming'

On this course you will learn:
- How to be creative by using brainstorming sessions.
- How to run a brainstorming session - rules and tips.
- How to prepare a good scenario for the session and make it more effective.
- Different methods to get ideas from people.
- Exercises which will make you more creative.

Course members will take part in an exercise where they have to imagine that they're part of a PR agency launching a new company on the Polish market. They will have to think about a new name, idea and image of the brand for the new company. The type of company will be chosen from a basket to make the whole situation more spontaneous.

13th July 2010 'Effective negotiations'

On this course you will learn:
- The reason for negotiations (how often you have to negotiate).
- How to offer the first price at the negotiation table.
- How to deal with a situation when you're not understood properly or can't be understood by
someone – clarifying vocabulary.
- How to handle difficult situations and reach agreement, and how to calm down a situation.
- How to finish a negotiation – key words.

Course members will practise different negotiation scenarios, for example - negotiating a pay rise with your boss, prices in an expenisive shop, agreeing holiday time with work colleagues, etc.

20th August 2010 'Lets make a deal'


On this course you will learn:
- Useful phone call language.
- How to problem-solve on the phone.
- How to book a hotel room etc.
- How to deal with complaints.
- Confirmation (for example if you want to ask for confirmation that an order was received).

Role plays will be used during this course and a foreign guest will take part in a game which will help with problem solving. Groups will have different scenarios to deal with, and to make the game more interesting, the guest will take the part of a big investor who wants to organise a large event in Dubai.

'Lifestyle' Saturdays

28th August 2010 'The power of stereotypes'


You will take part in a series of discussions about:
- Stereotypes in the UK.
- Comparisons between life in the UK and Poland.
- How to be polite and behave in the UK.

Course members will share their experiences of living in/visiting the UK. Foreign guests will also be invited to share their opinions about living in Poland.

4th September 2010 'Cool Britannia'

You will take part in a series of discussions about:
- The most famous people in the UK today.
- British idols (past and present).
- Top trends in the UK – fashion, theatre, museums etc.
- Famous books, actors, comedy etc.

Clips from popular English films and TV will also be shown and used as subjects for discussions.

11th September 2010 'A taste of life!'

You will take part in a series of discussions about:
- Typical English cuisine and recipes.
- Typical English traditions – for example Christmas stockings, Boxing Day, looking for Easter
eggs, cards for every occasion etc.

Course members will learn how to make a traditional English pudding and try some typical English food - Fish and Chips!

18th September 2010 'Survival kit for travellers'

You will learn about:
- Famous and popular landmarks in the UK.     
- The differences between accents in Britain, America, Australia etc.
- The differences between American and British English.
- Countries which are part of the UK commonwealth.
and take part in a series of discussions about:
- Travel experiences in the UK and advice about travelling abroad.
- Characteristics of different countries.

If the weather is good, this course will take place in park Pole Mokotowskie where there will be a 'Picnic'. Course members will learn how to make a typical English Summer drink! and there will be English games in the park.

At the end of the summer we will organise a big international party for all the courses members and guests who took part. Other foreign guests will be invited too, giving course members a chance to communicate and practise their English and integrate with international people living in Warsaw.
